Coffee-ctivism: Sustainability and Partnership
At Sahai, each harvest tells a unique local story. Our coffee grows under shade, preserving Lao upland forests. From selective hand-picking to sustainable processing, partner communities master every production step, protecting ancestral lands.
Through direct trade with diverse ethnic communities—Akha, Hmong, and Khmu—Sahai ensures farmers receive fair compensation for their expertise. Controlling from soil, seed, to dry bean, farmers earn significantly more than using productivisme agriculture. This coffee-ctivism approach extends beyond fair prices to developing self-reliant farmers’ organizations and supporting community initiatives in Laos’ most remote regions.
